“You must Be the change you wish to see in the World.” - Gandhi

Captain of the spring board diving team at Cal Berkeley, Nic’s diving career came to a sudden halt as a young sophomore. At 18 years of age, all the cartilage on the outside of his left knee had been destroyed and he was facing doctor after doctor who told him to ‘pick another sport’. Nic didn’t want to give up on his career or his search for developing a pain free body. He tried everything from yoga to sports massage to the Egosque method; he even tried Rolfing. Nothing was working. When all hope seemed lost, Chris Maher, a family friend, knocked on Nic’s door with Bob Cooley in tow. Cooley was the pioneer of a then unheard of genre of therapy known as resistance stretching. After one life-altering demonstration, Nic spent the next three months of that summer stretching three to five hours a day with Chris, forming a lasting friendship and a mutually beneficial professional relationship. Over the years, Nic and Chris began to develop their own ideas and techniques about the work. As these techniques developed, a new system emerged – what is now known as Ecentric Strength.

After saving his diving career and going on to be very successful both nationally and internationally, Nic graduated from UC Berkeley with a BA in Rhetoric. He then went on to the International Professional School of Bodywork (IPSB) in San Diego and graduated with his HHP in their 1,000-hour Holistic Health Practitioner program. Nic also became certified in Bob Cooley’s method of resistance stretching. One session with Nic and you will experience a wealth of knowledge and experience in Thai Massage, Barefoot Shiatsu, and Tui Na. The pursuit of knowledge doesn’t stop there, as Nic is currently enrolled at California State University at Long Beach to earn his Masters of Physical Therapy (MPT) and Transitional Doctorate Degree (DPT). When Nic finds the time, he can be found traveling (recently visiting Peru, Brazil, Mexico, New York, and Washington DC) or doing physical training of all kinds, including gymnastics, spring board diving, trampoline, kettle bells, weight training, running, and trail hiking. He frequents Audible.com for audio books, enjoys acrylic painting, and eating organic, wholesome food.
