“To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.” – Anatole France

"We all have the ability. The difference is how we use it.“ – Stevie Wonder

Maria has been a competitive athlete since the age of 6 earning herself a Division 1 college swimming scholarship at UC Irvine. She is a lifelong athlete with years of competitive sports including swimming, half/full marathons and triathlons. Over the years, she has experienced the frustrations of injuries that eventually led her to numerous treatment modalities with very minimal results. Maria’s quest for wellness and drive for excellence has led her to what was for her a new line of modalities in injury recovery, with Ecentric Strength!

Maria is one of the fortunate athletes to have worked with and been counseled by Elite trainers of Olympic competitors, and now good friends Anne Tierney and Steve Sierra of Innovative Body Solutions.
“Many thanks to them, for they have led me on to this path of healing the body, mind and soul…opening up the body in ways I never thought could be possible!”

"I had the great opportunity to meet and experience the amazing bodywork of Nic Bartolotta and Jim Rooney. After only a couple sessions of stretching with eccentric contractions and body mashing, I was absolutely hooked! It has been truly life changing to not only have such great passionate like minded friends in my life but to finally find an amazingly effective program. I have experienced such vast improvements and was so excited with how open, relaxed, and symmetrical I felt in just a few days.“

Maria holds a bachelor’s of science from UCSD and is also a certified trainer with National Academy of Sports Medicine as an Optimal Personal Trainer and Performance Enhancement Specialist. She is a USA Swimming certified swim coach teaching swim lessons to all ages and levels. In addition to Ecentric Strength and body mashing,
she has gained valuable experience in strength training, anatomy, flexibility and nutrition. She also specializes in general fitness, weight loss, core stabilization and sports specific training, cardiovascular training and nutrition counseling. If Maria isn’t stretching, mashing, swimming, running, lifting weights, or practicing yoga, you can find her playing at the beach, dancing, enjoying healthy cooking and spending time with her family including 3 sisters.

Inspired by her always health conscience and fit family, Maria enjoys a healthy and active filled lifestyle. Her grandparents, once Olympic hopefuls too, are now in their 80’s and continue to pursue a healthy lifestyle. They enjoy skiing in the Alps to this day. And many thanks to my parents for introducing me to sports at such an early age and for supporting me and encouraging me over all these years. Quite the inheritance but more importantly the persistence and courage it takes to try something new that works!

“As a personal trainer since 2001, and dedicated passionate athlete, Ecentric Strength is now a part of my daily routine and business for life. It has inspired me to not only help people lead a pain free happy healthy life but to also be the athlete I want to be. I truly enjoy sharing my enthusiasm and passion for sports and fitness in helping many many others!“
