Since 1997 Eric Nixon has dedicated his work to the study and function of the human body. Beginning a yoga practice at the age of eighteen he was inspired to continue his process by becoming a certified massage therapist and to enhance his skills with the Rolf Method of Structural Integration. Guided by his journey through somatic development he has experienced the power of bodywork in the process of rehabbing his own injuries. Five years ago Eric retained a repetitive stress injury due to his extensive bodywork practice in a chiropractic clinic in Del Mar. He chose Pilates as a form of rehab and conditioning to continue his bodywork practice in the clinic for the next three years.
After finding relief from his own pains, he decided to study the Pilates method to give his clients a way to continue their healing process with exercise and to further his understanding of the human body through movement. Eric utilizes the techniques of Pilates, principles of functional anatomy, and the Rolf Method of Structural Integration to help stop pain, align posture, tone muscles, and bring balance to the mind, body, and spirit. Eric has worked with clients ranging from the
age of eight to the age of eighty, and has responded to all sorts of physical traumas such as: carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatica, low back, shoulder, and neck pain. His specializes in pain relief for elite and student athletes, professional dancers, actors, yogis and anyone who is interested in enhancing the experience and awareness of their body.
Eric Nixon is a licensed Holistic Health Professional, and also holds a Pilates certification with Body Arts and Sciences International. Eric is nationally certified for massage by the NCBTMB, and is a member of the International Association of Structural Integrators. He also completed an Associate of Arts in Holistic Health and Somatic Arts from the International Professional School of Bodywork in San Diego, CA. He refined his skills during a mentorship of three years with the one of Dr. Ida Rolf’s (creator of Structural Integration) senior students, Dr. Edward Maupin, PhD. He is currently continuing his studies in Anatomy and Physiology at Atlantic Cape Community College, and will be enrolling in the Registered Nursing Program next fall. He brings a unique approach to the alignment of the body in gravity, and adds to his work by focusing on Chinese meridians, muscle conditioning, and core strength in a safe, knowledgeable, and fun environment.
