Ecentric Strength is a unique blend of resistance stretching and strength training that incorporates principles from western biomechanics and eastern holistic approaches to give its users a profound therapeutic whole-body workout experience. These techniques are simple in principle, practical in use, and profound in their results, and offer tools for people at all levels of athletic and physical abilities – we’ve worked with Major League Baseball players, quadriplegics, and everyone in between. The exercises are specifically designed to increase flexibility and muscle strength through a greater range of motion by removing muscle tension within the body.

Ecentric Strength practitioners begin by using proper biomechanical alignment and posture as a guide to hone in on structural alignment issues caused by muscle tension. Once these and any other associated problems have been identified, Ecentric Strength practitioners use their understanding of the body and the relationship between tension and its numerous effects on the body to create a customized therapeutic workout experience.

Ecentric Strength exercises can be performed alone using self-stretches or with other people using assisted stretching techniques. Self-stretches are performed by resisting against one’s own body, the ground, a wall or other equipment. Assisted stretches are performed by the stretcher resisting the movement of the assister as the assister forces targeted muscles of the stretcher to extend while flexing.
